The Philosophy of
Aurally Divergent Psychotherapy

Social Justice at the core of Therapeutic Practice

Aurally Divergent Psychotherapy exists as a progressive, culturally attuned practice that actively recognises and counters the impact of systemic oppression, prejudice, and societal structures on human lives.

Central to this context is a deep commitment to radical inclusivity and actively dismantling ableism. We recognise that standard mental health frameworks (including counselling and therapeutic interventions) often pathologise difference and ignore the structural barriers faced by disabled, neurodivergent, and chronically ill communities.

The lived experience of disability is profoundly altered and intensified when it intersects with racism, sexism, classism, or queerphobia (or any of the "-isms"). For us, inclusivity is not a passive sentiment or a checklist. We actively seek to create a space where diverse minds and bodies are fundamentally safe, valued, and understood.

Our progressive ethos guides our clinical worldview, while our private practice structure allows us to remain en tirely independent, unhurried, and deeply resourced. We believe that true systemic awareness requires holding both a radical clinical lens and a commitment to sustainable economics. Charging professional fees ensures we can invest directly in the specialised tools, ongoing clinical education, and infrastructure required to build a genuinely accessible, high-standard environment for the diverse communities we serve.
